After WWII, home sizes remained relatively small until the mid-1950s. Starting out with a 800 sq. ft. house in 1948 was ample room for young families. You stacked the kids in bunk beds and almost everyone shared the single bath. Model No. 208 is a good example of the small house style that most Americans embraced. This plan came with a contemporary exterior with transom windows in the living room (very nice for cross ventilation) or a more conventional, transitional ranch.
