Some architectural historians consider the Minimal Traditional style like the Webster to be descended from the earlier English cottage. But for the flattened roof pitch it's easy to see the similarity. Others consider it to be a descendent of the Colonial Revival. Regardless of its antecedents, it's easy to see the seeds of the later tract-style ranch in both layouts.
